Continuing Legal Education
- The Section provides opportunities for Section members to satisfy substantially all of the Utah State Bar Mandatory Continuing Legal Education requirements through attendance at section-sponsored seminars and events
- The Section sponsors CLE luncheons during most months between September and April with topics selected by Section Officers in conjunction with the CLE Committee
- The Section hosts its Annual Section Meeting each May, which includes an update of case law from the Utah Supreme Court and Utah Court of Appeals, an update on recent legislation, and normally an ethics or civility presentation
- The Section sponsors breakout sessions at the Utah State Bar Midyear Meeting in St. George, Utah and the Utah State Bar Summer Convention in July
- The Section also hosts a Ski & CLE in February
Legislation
- Section leadership entertains input from Section members, makes a good faith evaluation of pending legislation, and makes recommendations to support, oppose or remain neutral on legislation of general interest to Section members
- The Chair of the Section serves on and gives input from the Section to the Utah State Bar Governmental Relations Committee
- If necessary, the Section leadership forms ad hoc committees to address legislation of general interest to real property practitioners (e.g., uniform laws, etc.)
Finances
- Section Officers establish rates for Section dues and for Section CLE presentations and activities
- Section Officers approve expenditures for seminars, special projects, donations, reimbursements for travel, lodging and meals for guest speakers at Section-sponsored seminars
- The Section Officers may, in their discretion, charge a fee to people who sign up but do not attend or pay for Section-sponsored CLE presentations
