The Real Property Section is one of the largest and most active sections of the Bar. Our section continues to sponsor high quality seminars and luncheons featuring speakers on real property and related topics. While we have been utilizing wbinars due to Covid, we are making strides to get back to Section Luncheons held at the Alta Club in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Section often participates in the Fall Forum in November, the Spring Convention and the Summer Bar Convention in July. The Section has a Social Committee that plans fun activities throughout the year to promote comradery and friendship among members and to give members an opportunity to create a network of real property attorneys they can reach out to for help. The Section also has an active CLE Committee that is instrumental in identifying timely topics of interest to our members and excellent and entertaining speakers to present on them.
Each year the Chair of the Section serves on the Bar’s Governmental Relations Committee and provides input from our membership on legislation affecting real property. Perhaps the most significant of our Section’s activities is the Section’s Annual Meeting, which takes place in May. It includes a Section business meeting, election of a new section Treasurer (who serves a four-year term, as Treasurer, then Secretary, then Vice Chairperson, and then ending as Chairperson), and updates on recent Utah Supreme Court and Utah Court of Appeals cases and new legislation affecting real property. Announcements of Section luncheons and events can be found on the Events tab and are also emailed to Section members.
Please contact any of the Section Officers if you have any comments or suggestions for the Real Property Section, would like to be a presenter or recommend one, know of a topic that would interest our members for a possible CLE, or would like to serve on the Social Committee and/or the CLE Committee.
Below are listed the Section Chairs and the Distinguished Property Practitioner of the Year Award recipients. Unfortunately, there are a few blanks that we need to fill in. If you can help us complete the chart, please use the Contact tab to email us any information you have and we will update the chart below. Thank you.
